Using Geometric Blur for Point Correspondence
نویسنده
چکیده
In computer vision applications, point correspondence plays an important role. Here, we present a technique called geometric blur to find point correspondences between two different images, even in the presence of affine distortions. We compare the results of this technique with other prevalent techniques for finding point correspondences, such as SSD (Sum of Squared Differences) with uniform Gaussian blur. Experimental results are shown on various face images and other object images. Index Terms — point correspondences, geometric blur, interest points, object detection and recognition, SIFT

Geometric Blur for Template Matching
We address the problem of finding point correspondences in images by way of an approach to template matching that is robust under affine distortions. This is achieved by applying “geometric blur” to both the template and the image, resulting in a fall-off in similarity that is close to linear in the norm of the distortion between the template and the image. Results in wide baseline stereo corre...

Image matching is a critical process in various photogrammetry, computer vision and remote sensing applications such as image registration, 3D model reconstruction, change detection, image fusion, pattern recognition, autonomous navigation, and digital elevation model (DEM) generation and orientation. The primary goal of the image matching process is to establish the correspondence between two ...
متن کاملShape Matching and Object Recognition
We approach recognition in the framework of deformable shape matching, relying on a new algorithm for finding correspondences between feature points. This algorithm sets up correspondence as an integer quadratic programming problem, where the cost function has terms based on similarity of corresponding geometric blur point descriptors as well as the geometric distortion between pairs of corresp...
متن کاملBlur invariant pattern recognition and registration in the Fourier domain
Pattern recognition and registration are integral elements of computer vision, which considers image patterns. This thesis presents novel blur, and combined blur and geometric invariant features for pattern recognition and registration related to images. These global or local features are based on the Fourier transform phase, and are invariant or insensitive to image blurring with a centrally s...
متن کاملImage reconstruction from a complete set of geometric and complex moments
An image can be reconstructed from the finite set of its orthogonal moments. Since geometric and complex moment kernels do not satisfy orthogonality criterion, direct image reconstruction using them is deemed to be difficult. In this paper, we propose a technique to reconstruct an image from either geometric moments (GMs) or complex moments (CMs). We utilize a relationship between GMs and Stirl...
